Crock Pot Barbecue Ribs
You don’t necessarily need a grill to make deliciously mouthwatering barbecue ribs at home. You can use your slow cooker or crock pot to make melt-in-your mouth, tender, juicy, fall-off-the bone, finger licking good barbecue ribs with just a few ingredients like onions, garlic, and barbecue sauce. This simple recipe makes it simple and easy. You can either cook the ribs in the crock pot for six to eight hours on low heat or three to four hours on high heat. You need to broil the ribs first, however, for 25 minutes, to give them a nice brown color, before cooking it in the crock pot.
This home cooking recipe uses spareribs to make barbecue but you can also use baby back ribs to make this recipe, but you will need to cut the meat for it to fit inside the cooker. Before cooking, trim off excess fat from the ribs. The broiling process also extracts some of the fat from the meat, which you can discard to lessen your total fat consumption. Place the ribs inside the crock pot with the meaty side out and standing on their edge. Make sure that the ribs are properly thawed before you cook them. Thaw the frozen ribs in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight. You can also thaw the frozen meat in a basin of ice cold water with its packaging still on for a few hours.
You can buy barbecue sauce ready made and bottled in the grocery or you can make your own barbecue sauce for use in this recipe. As long as you find the sauce delicious, then it will make delicious barbecue ribs. Spice up your barbecue sauce with some chili for a superb bite. Use fresh herbs and fresh ingredients to get a potent and exceptional tasting barbecue sauce.
