Bangladesh Protest Outside Harvard Yard
In Bangladesh, the fourth most populous Muslim country, this peaceful movement, called the Shahbag, is fighting for a ban on extreme fundamentalist parties.
But Bangladesh's largest Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami, is growing louder. Islamist groups clashed with police in Dhaka in late February, killing 4 people. And when combined with other violent Jamaat clashes, at least 24 people were killed in February. Read more about the story on CNN.
Rallies in solidarity of the movement have occurred throughout the U.S. as well. iReporter ColinMarts was right outside Harvard Yard in early March when he saw one of these rallies. In this iReporter's opinion, 'That violence in their opinion is based on not justice, and they were calling for a stop to the wrongful murders occurring,' he said.
