    Beyond Trayvon - Gun Violence One Year On

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     DarklingDami told me, 'I did a short piece with a mother in Brooklyn and she told me her story about how her son was shot and killed leaving a bbq and til this day the young man who did was not brought to justice. Seeing her pain knowing that she will never have closure made me sad, and got me thinking about how we often focus only on the person who died rather than the impact on the mothers and family. Trayvon Martin's mum reminded me of this and I felt compelled to get involved and be a voice on the issue of gun violence.'

    I shot and edited this piece as a contribution to the discussion on Gun Violence and in dedication to Trayvon Martins family and all other families who have lost their children to this guns. One year on Trayvons family still seek justice for their son and to be there in Union Square on the day he was tragically killed one year on was heart wrenching to film. Jamie Fox and Michale E Dyson came to support and this is what I felt I could do but I need your help of the community as an indie filmmaker with no major platform offering diverse media in the mainstream
