'The Bully Effect': Making it stop

    "Sam"

When I was in middle school, a group of kids were always telling me about a kid in school named Sam. Sam was annoying and everyone disliked him. The kids on the bus promised me they would introduce me to Sam on the last day of school because they were afraid if they introduced me before then, I would tell him all of the terrible things they said about him.

On the last day of school, the kids took my yearbook and wrote me a note. Taking over the whole back cover, they wrote in black sharpie how I was really Sam and everyone really hated me.

While this isn't physical bullying, it was the cherry on top of a long year where I had been picked on and teased for everything ranging from my small stature to immature clothing. Bullying isn't always punching and being thrown into lockers. Sometimes stories like this stay with you for just as long.
