Your thoughts on Hugo Chavez |

The Dictator is Dead
I have been reading the articles that celebrate his life and presidency, but unfortunately i could not partake in the celebration, or even recognition of these many accomplishments of the late Mr. Chavez. Since 1999, I have witnessed more poverty than ever, an uncontrollable inflation of currency, and people's rights "constitutionally" revoked. What rights? Property-- peoples farms and lands are taken over by squatters and the government supports them. The basic necessities such as food, toiletries, even feminine products, have become scarce, and when in stock in the groceries, purchasing quantities are limited. Crime is at an all-time high- All the national newspapers print are murder stories and arson. All the international companies as fled, due to the dollar/ bolivar conversion difficulties and because the Venezuelan government would default on their contracts. Whole facilities have been illegally taken over from private companies by the government when it suited them. This is not progress, whatever Hugo Chavez has said.
