    Your thoughts on Hugo Chavez

Chavez is not the way for Latin America

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     rrlm an ordained pastor originally from Cuba told me, 'As a Latin American I want what's best for the region. And based on Chavez's political maneuvers and close relationship to the authoritarian regime of my homeland, Cuba, I know that his agenda was not the best for the region. There are other lefty governments in the region, but they are centered-left: governments that tolerate and respect opposition. But that wasn't the case of Chavez! Chavez's government was going to drive the region to a divisive polarization in which we would see others through politically ideological eyes and not as people of good capable of serving their region.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

Hugo Chavez was not the way for Latin Americans. And so today even after his death, we say that he is not the way for our Latin American continent. Over time he moved further to the left, and that proved to be detriment. And we see it in the way his death was handled. As far as anyone knows, he could have been dead since Decemember 30 of 2012. But the secretism surrounding him in the last 3 months is an example of the lack of transparency in his government. Now, the question is not what's going to happen to Venezuela without Chavez. His followers have proved themselves to be of very low political caliber-- almost like puppets of the Cuban authorities. The real question is, what's going to happen to Cuba without Chavez?
