Your thoughts on Hugo Chavez |
A benevolent dictator?
I really don't know what to think about Hugo Chavez.
On one hand you have what seems like a modern day Robin Hood.
From providing healthcare to the poor to aiding those who had fallen into poverty, the man comes across compassionate and good.
On the other hand you have a dictator.
He silenced any opposition he had to enable himself to stay in control of his country.
He closed down newspapers and TV station who dared to speak against him.
Seems freedom of speech wasn't high on his list.
It's a weird and somewhat unsettling paradox.
Makes me wonder...?
Would it be better to have a benevolent dictator over the continual fighting and corruption of our own government?
