    I would like to solute my son Jeremy Hooper, he recently parted to Afganistan. He has a wife and one child a daughter. It was extremely hard for him to leave her. In this economy, before entering the military, Jeremy searched over and over for a job in our community. When faced with the fact that no one was returning his calls after interviews, I thought that my son would give up and fall into a bout of depression. I was so worried about him. One day after an interview at our local police department did not provide a positive outcome, Jeremy came home and we discussed his future. I remember, like a true man Jeremy said to me, "mom you do not have to worry about me, you did your best and now it's time for me to get out and show you the man that I have become. I have a daughter to support and I am not going to use the excuse that I can not find a job in this economy." A few weeks passed then my son stopped by to excitedly tell me that he had joined the army and that this was one of the best things in his life that he had done. I encouraged him to continue his journey if this is really what he wanted. He left for Afganistan 2 weeks ago and I don't think he really understands how proud I am of him. I miss my son already but I really understand that he is truly a man now and that he never gives up in life. Again, I am so proud of Jeremy.
