    News from Bangladesh vol.5

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Ruhelahmed told me, as to why he has gone to Dhaka, Bangladesh from his current home in Austin, Texas, 'I was born and raised in Bangladesh and actively participated in our War of Liberation as a Freedom Fighter guerrilla. I was wounded towards the end of the war and still carry the injuries in my body. The Shahbag Movement remains neutral and apolitical in characteristic, The protest continues and young citizens have vowed that they will continue to occupy the square till the last of war criminals are hanged. So far the the new generation protesters got some results and it seems that they are very determined to get what they want.'

The video was taken on 7th March.

A Bangladeshi Freedom Fighter Mr. Akku Choudhury explains 7th March in Bangladeshi perspective. This was filmed at Sharwardee Uddan near Projonmo Chottor (Generation Square) on 7th march 2013.

A historic day for Bangladesh. In 1970 this very day the father of the nation

Sk Mujibur Rahman declared the beginning of the freedom struggle which ultimately brought the independence of a new nation called Bangladesh.

Now after 42 years the country is prosecuting the war criminals of 71 and a massive movement has started. Pro and anti supporters are at a verge of civil war and approx. 150 people have been killed so far. The International War Crime Tribunal has given verdict for three criminals (two death penalty and one life in prisonment) so far and determined to go ahead with the rest of the verdict.
