    Christian community leader JI Khi Amir visits 10 years, 10 days camp

     
    A delegation of Christian community led by Bishop John Anthony, Father Justin Bhatti, and Father Alfred of Methodist Church Council here Friday visited the ’10 years-10 days’ camp at Karachi Press Club to express solidarity with Dr Fowzia Siddiqui of Aafia Movement Pakistan. The Christian students who had obser4ved a hunger strike in front on the KPC on the occasion of Christmas were also present. Pasban Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor was also present.
    Speaking on the occasion, the Christian leaders said they have often raised voice for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. They said they also wrote letters to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, President Asif Ali Zardari and US President Barak Obama appealing them to play their due role for release of Dr Aafia, but to no avail. They requested Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Altaf Hussain, Imran Khan, and Maulana Tahirul Qadri to think about Dr Aafia. They said the politicians should also think about her before going for begging votes. They on the behalf of Christian community assured full support to the cause of Dr Aafia release. They also condoled for the Abbas Town Victims and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
    Separately, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter amir Muhammad Hussain Mehnati also visited the camp and assured full support on behalf of his party for security early release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. He said Dr Aafia Siddiqui is the daughter of the nation but the rulers, sadly, have not played their due rule for release for American imprisonment.
    Dr Fowzia, on the occasion, presented shields to the students who had observed hunger strike for the release of Aafia Siddiqui. She saluted the leaders and members of Christian community for the valuable support for the cause of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. She said the rulers are yet to realize the sentiments of whole nation about the imprisonment of Aafia. She said the apathy of the rulers on this sensitive national issue is a big question mark.
    On the occasion a novel float was inaugurated which would visit the length and breadth of whole Pakistan would come to Islamabad and parked in front of Parliament House as a part of “Aafia Release March”.
