Canadian Tar sand by product stored along the Detroit river

In the past month mountains of petroleum Coke (by-product of Alberta Tar sands started piling up along the Detroit River in the city of Detroit . Today a protest occurred on the Canadian side of the river in Windsor Ontario over the polluting of the river and the fact dust from the Coke mountains are blowing across the river into Canada and the Detroit River , in attendance Canadian politician and MP Brian Masse . This petroleum Coke will be burned in power plants and steel mills , the problem is this stuff burns 5 times dirtier then coal . The people of Canada are also concerned about how unsustainable the Alberta Tar sands oil is and the fact it takes 2 barrels of fresh water to create 1 barrel of bitumen oil , and that 4 barrels of waste are created for every barrel of oil made . The resulting pollutants have poisoned the first nations communities around the tar sands area .
