Today is International Good Deeds Day
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
Everyone worldwide is invited to come out together and do good deeds for the benefits of others.
Shari Arison, a global business leader and philanthropist initiated the Good Deeds Day in Israel in 2007, with 7,000 participants. It has grown since to more than 250,000 good deed doers in more than 50 countries across the globe. This year, some 400,000 are expected to take part all over the world.
Leading national and local volunteer organizations and community service programs, including NYC Service, Habitat for Humanity, Girls Scouts of Greater New York, Jumpstart, GenerationOn, The Halo Foundation and City Arts, joined Shari in the kick off event of International Good Deeds Day on March 9 in Times Square.
The event was attended by over 800 good deed doers. Photo opportunities were available to attendees who wanted to show off their pledges and be seen in Time Square mega screen. Attendees also received a signed complimentary copy of Shari’s new book, “Activate Your Goodness – Transforming the World Through Doing Good.”
There are plenty of activity themes that can be explored, and myriad of ideas for doing good to celebrate good deeds day, not only today - but every day of our lives.
