Playtime in the daytime
Once a year the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District hosts an employee organized and funded day of play – the annual picnic. Everyone chips in to plan and host a barbeque and activities for colleagues, family members and retirees. The day’s events include: a competitive 5K run, ping pong and volley ball tournaments, USACE idol, sumo wrestling, face painting, and the crowd favorite, a dunk tank. During the often warm and sunny day-of-fun, held in July, employees share team spirit, common interests and laughs that extend beyond the workplace. It’s an opportunity to step out of our cubes and into an environment filled with high-fives, encouragement and praise. Once the picnic is over, the key is bringing the enthusiasm and positive energy into the office and carrying it throughout the year until the next play day.
