CNN PRODUCER NOTE 2DSTORMS told me, 'This area was on the warm side of a winter storm that dumped nearly a foot and one half of snow on western and northern Iowa. Rainfall of 1"-4" happened on frozen, snow covered ground so it ran off into local tributaries and ponded in farm fields. I have not seen too much damage, but from what I hear the Cedar River in Cedar Falls, Iowa, is nearing flood stage due to ice jams and that flooding is affecting houses along the river. There are multiple rivers and streams that are experiencing moderate to major flooding. '

A storm system dropped anywhere from a few inches of snow to nearly 15" of snow on the NW half of Iowa, NW of a line from Red Oak, to Des Moines, to Parkersburg to Decorah in NE Iowa. SE of this line heavy rains, up to 3.5" in some spots, causing rural areas in NE Iowa to flood with a few feet of water. These pictures are from rural areas in Buchanan, Black Hawk and Bremer Counties in NE Iowa. Areas flooded due to the ground being frozen causing the water to run off and not soak in and multiple areas already having 4"-12" of snow still on the ground. One thing this does help with is overcoming the drought of 2012.
