    Hang all the accused in war crimes

     

    Another rally has been held at Uttara in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka demanding execution of the accused of war crimes. Gonojagoron Mancha organizes the program as part of their follow rallies from Shahbag.


    Dr. Imran H Sarka, spokesperson of Gonojagoron Mancha; Badiuzzaman Shohag, President of the ruling party student wing Bangladesh Chattra League, Siddique Nazmul Alam, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chattra League, Bappa Dittya Basu, President of Chattra Moitri, part of an ally o the incumbent government and other student leaders address the program.
    The speakers say Bangladesh could only be freed from stigma and culture of impunity if the war criminals are being hanged. They say the new generation of Bangladesh, the Gonojagoron Mancha, will continue movement to ensure hanging all of the war criminals. The rally also takes oath ‘not to return home until execution, followed by handed down capital punishment from the Tribunal, of all the war crimes accused’.


    Police and other law enforcers heavily guarded the program venue over security concern. Many school children were also seen participating in the rally.
    Participants in the program demand all war crimes accused to be hanged. The Gonojagoron Manch started its programs since 5th February, 2013; following the verdict against Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah for lifetime imprisonment. The Gonojagoron Mancha protested the verdict and started sit in and continuous programs demanding capital punishment.


    In Bangladesh, there has been criticism that since Gonojagoron Mancha do not critique the government so the authority has given them security and opportunity to continue protests. They also allege that opposition parties are not allowed to stage demonstration or protest rallies as they criticize the failures of the government.
