6 Months since Pres. Obama addressed the American People about Benghazi

Six months ago today, President Obama (our Commander-in-Chief) stood in the Rose Garden of the White House and announced to the American People that our US Ambassador to Libya and three others had been killed in our consulate and that denigrating someone's religion was not justification for this violence (referring to the video). He vowed that he would bring those responsible to justice. (see http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/09/12/statement-president-attack-benghazi for a link to his statement)

Over the next several days and weeks, the White House and the State Department strongly took the position that the attack on our consulate was the result of protesst in response to the video (seemingly, lumping into other protests that were in fact occurring). Even when evidence began to surface that strongly suggested otherwise and even when the Libyan President said shortly thereafter it was clearly an orchestrated attack, the message and narrative continued.

We saw it unfold first hand here on ireports and in the news.  We witnessed many people believing that what occurred in Benghazi was the result of this video. The White House did not seem to want to clarify any of this. They continued to foster that narrative including the infamous "Sunday News Show" circuit by the President's spokesperson)

As we learned....we were attacked by militants with a terrorist objective against the US. While the President turned out to be wrong (there was no protest here....it was NOT like the others). This was an orchestrated attack.

Yet even as late as 9/25/12……President Obama stood in front of the world at the UN Assembly, acknowledged the deaths…..and again blamed the video.
Then a couple of weeks later……he surprises most of America…….when in the 2nd debate……he tells the American people that he has been rightly calling it terrorism all along, finally, seemingly acknowledging that it was in fact an orchestrated attack on our consulate and that in fact…..there never was a protest in Benghazi.

Why does this matter? Why is it important?
    1) During the response while the attack was occurring……or lack thereof…..it matters whether you believe you are dealing with civil disobedience (rioters from a protest) or being attacked by militants. It is factored into the response, both in Authority to Act and What to Do. Four Americans died……two, while trying to defend others 6 hours into the attack. Did this premature determination affect the response?
    2) The Commander-in-Chief and his administration attempted to mislead the American People……or was grossly incompetent in not recognizing what had transpired as evident by their explanations.
    3) The Commander-in-Chief has a special duty to the American People as it relates to national security and our common defense. Misleading the American People on this matter is a grave offense.
    4) President Obama was in the midst of a re-election. The American People deserve the truth so as to properly factor it into their considerations as to the job he has done…..and whether he should be re-elected.

Unfortunately, President Obama has failed to address this matter or update the American People. Investigations have begun and Congressional hearings have been held covering some elements of the administration.

Thus far we have learned that significant and crucial mistakes were made, particularly before the attack. Failure at the S.O.S level….which Mrs Clinton acknowledged (and said she takes responsibility…..yet, was not held accountable for her failure). We have also learned that we failed to respond with counter-force or rescue in an attack that went on for over 7 hours…..indicating a weakness in the military response. It is now time to investigate the Office of the President. As Commander-in-chief, he is ultimately responsible (as Pres. Obama has acknowledged).

It is now time to understand the President’s actions before, during and after the response. Including, what seems to include an attempt to mislead the American People.

President Obama, when will you address the American People about these matters? Why have you not provided any update to what you announced to us on 9/12/12? What are you avoiding?
