    Salute to troops

    Taking care of business

Let me start out by saying that the Army life is not a glamorous one. It is hard, especially on kids. Everytime we move, we have to assist our kids with getting adjusted to new rooms, learning a new area, making friends, etc. It's constantly having to explain that Daddy is at work, whether it's a night when he is working late and won't be home before bed, he is gone for training for a month, or he is deployed. The amount of time the soldier is gone seems like a lifetime to the family at home, and I can't imagine how it feels to the soldiers themselves. Despite the hardships, I love our life and I love being married to a soldier.

On that note, I would like to salute my husband, Mike Roe. Mike is an extremely devoted father to two daughters, 4 and 1, and a loving husband. Mike enlisted in the fall of 2008, and left for basic training when our oldest was 10 weeks old. He deployed in February of 2011 (the picture is him and our oldest right before he left) and will be leaving again before the end of the year. As hard as it is being away from him, I know he is doing what he has to do to take care of his family and protect our country. I couldn't be more proud to call him my husband. Not only is he my husband, he is my hero. I can't imagine being away from these girls for an hour, much less a year at a time. He takes it in stride, and knows he is working towards the greater good. Being in the Army has always been a dream of his, and I am thankful that I get to witness him living his dream every single day.
