    Syrian bus overturns in east Beirut

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Lebanese photographer JoeBejjany captured the horrific aftermath of a bus crash in east Beirut that left nine dead Friday. The bus, with a Syrian license plate, flipped over on the Kahaleh Highway, the Lebanese Red Cross said. Our iReporter says the bus was carrying families from Damascus, Syria, to Beirut. Friday marks the two year anniversary of the Syrian uprising, in which thousands of Syrians have died and one million people have fled the violence.

    Nine people were killed and 37 others wounded after a bus carrying Syrian nationals overturned Friday morning on Kahaleh highway.

    It said the dead were left lying on the street, while Lebanese Red Cross teams rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals.

    Police blocked the highway in both directions and diverted traffic off the main road

    The bus was carrying families from Damascus heading to Beirut.
