Pope Francis Visits Santa Maria Maggiore

My wife and I visited Rome last September. I heard on the radio that the 1st church Pope Francis visited was Santa Maria Maggiore. When we stayed in Rome Santa Maria Maggiore was one of the closest cathedrals to our hotel and one of the 1st sites we visited. It is famous for having enshrined a portion of the crib of Christ. There's a statue of one of the Popes praying at the altar that holds the crib. I'm not Catholic and find it hard to believe that the crib of Christ was actually saved by someone, but who am I to doubt. Here's a few photos I took.
