Nationally Recognized Expert Appraiser Visits Moldaw Residences
Close to 100 people filled the room during two different exciting appraisal sessions at Moldaw Residences, featuring Gary Piattoni, an expert appraiser who has regularly appeared on PBS’ Antiques Roadshow since its second season. Residents and invited guests brought family heirlooms, artwork, furniture, clocks and collectibles for Piattoni to appraise. One of the clocks was worth close to $10,000, and that news impressed the crowd. Piattoni offered insight about each item’s value, history and origin.
“The residents, guests and staff thoroughly enjoyed seeing Gary in action,” said Gerry Vadnais, executive director of Moldaw Residences. “He is extremely knowledgeable, and many people spent time with him one-on-one to hear his opinions regarding various items. We truly appreciate him bringing this entertaining and educational experience to Moldaw Residences.”
Piattoni is a nationally recognized expert appraiser when it comes to art and antiques.
He currently is the president of Gary Piattoni Decorative Arts, Inc, which is a full service art and antiques appraisal and consulting company.
“I enjoy meeting people and talking with them about their art, antiques and other family heirlooms,” said Piattoni. “At an event like the one we held at Moldaw, my goal is to have everyone leave feeling good about their piece, whether it is worth $10 or $10,000.”
Moldaw Residences is an innovative senior living community located at the 8.5 acre Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life, adjacent to the 130,000 square foot Oshman Family Jewish Community Center. As a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), Moldaw Residences enables older adults to age in place by providing independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Opened in 2009, Moldaw Residences offers 193 maintenance free, spacious apartment homes with full kitchens and extensive social and cultural amenities. Affiliated with the Jewish Senior Living Group, it is open to all faiths, ethnicities, and racial background.
