    Storm leaves 19 dead in Bangladesh

     
    A sudden storm in a northern district in Bangladesh leaves at least 19 dead and scores injured. More than five hundred houses have turned into debris.

    The storm hit Bramhonbaria district, some 250 kilometers away from the capital city Dhaka, on Friday afternoon.

    Law enforcers and local people are continuing rescue operation.

    Witnesses say, the Tornado hit Sultanpur, Basudeb, Akhaura and Bijoynagar areas of the district were severely hit. It stayed for a brief time.

    Uprooted trees shut down transport. Power out intensified the situation.

    The injured have been admitted to Bramhonbaria Hospital and health care centers. Injuries were mainly from wall collapse and fell down branches of the trees on fragile rooftops.

    Local administration has started immediate relief operation, though not adequate yet.
