Late winter storm brings snow and blizzard conditions to the Rockies and Plains.
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
Evergreen, COLORADO – A late winter storm will bring close to a foot of snow to the Denver Metro area and over a foot in the Plains of eastern Colorado along with near blizzard conditions. Snow started to fall last night and the heaviest snow is now in eastern Colorado and western Kansas where gusty winds will create near blizzard conditions and dangerous travel conditions.
Winter Storm Warnings are currently in effect for the Denver Metro eastward into Kansas, Missouri, and far western Illinois.
Currently Interstate 70 is shutdown east of Denver to the Kansas stateline along with many roads in the northeastern plains of Colorado.
This storm should move out of Colorado and into the Plains tonight where Kansas to Indiana can expect some of the same winter weather through Sunday.
