Autism Awareness is every single day in my house

My child is living with autism, and when you see him in public this is what I hope you would know, do or say...

I would hope you would not look at the way he stands or the way he doesn't really associate himself with what you're talking about. I would hope you would see him as an amazing, quirky, talented, smart, talkative teenager, because that is essentially what he is. So what he has Aspergers, so what he doesn't get sarcasm or metaphors. He gets math, he gets science, he gets video games, he gets spending time with his baby brothers, he gets laying on the couch with his Mom watching old Disney movies... he just gets LIFE. He is engaging and laughs a lot, he is a helpful big brother, a great cousin and one of my most favorite people to be around because even though he may talk my ear off about the latest WWE pay-per-view match that he watched with his Dad, he is my baby and always will be.

He is enthusiastic about growing up, about getting a job, about graduating high school and going on to college. Again... he just loves life.

If you see us in public, I would hope that you would approach him, talk to him, talk to us, because we are a normal family. We love each other very much. Just like your family.
