Have You HEARD Of Dancing Horses?

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     mcintron shot these photos at Grand Central Terminal in New York City, N.Y. The "dancing horses" are part of the Terminal's centennial celebration. She says the horse soundsuits were conceived of as dream imagery. The foundation of the horses is a nylon-netting structure that lays on top of a brown cloth and the surface is synthetic raffia, she says. "Watching these magnificent puppets come to life was very exciting and seemed to inspire awe in the audience, young and old alike," she says. "There was a collective 'aaahhhhh' from the audience as the horses woke up and began their movements. It was amazing to see so many adults suddenly seemingly revert to childhood wonder all at once."

Colorful 'horses' come to life in this brilliant art and dance installation, "HEARD N.Y." by artist Nick Cave. The horses were on display at Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall in New York City from March 25-31 as part of the station's centennial celebrations. Twice a day the horses awakened, coming to life at the sound of drums and harp softly urging them to 'wake up'... The Alvin Ailey School dancers made the magic happen.
