    Farewell Annette Funicello

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MarieSager grew up in Southern California and says it was a big deal to see Annette Funicello and the rest of the Mouseketeers perform at Disneyland. She said the Mouseketeers lightened up the screen with their singing and dancing. "As a little kid you wore the little ears and thought you were something special," she said. "I think that's who all little teenage girls wanted to be when they were 13.

My heart is saddened today after learning of the passing of Annette Funicello.

When Disneyland first opened many years ago, I remember the Mouseketeers came and joined in the parade. I watched Annette with the rest of the Mouseketeers dancing and singing. What a great day for a little girl. I still have that picture in my mind complete with the Fantasyland Castle.

As a teenage girl, I also remember her on the "Spin and Marty" show. And I still to this day sing some of the songs she sang on their show.

What a sad loss of such a sweet and gracious person.
