the transition continues in the Afghanistan western region

HERAT: the transition continues in the Afghanistan western region     Herat, April 24, 2013 - This morning, at ‘Camp Zafar’ base, Brigadier General Ignazio Gamba, commander of Regional Command West (RC-W), and Major General Taj Mohammad Jahed, commander of the 207 th  Corps of the Afghan National Army, signed the plan for the operations that will be performed during the next six months by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), with the ISAF support. Presented on March 28 by general Jahed to the local security forces and ISAF authorities, the plan is significantly important because, in the current phase of transition of the responsibility for the security of Afghanistan, for the first time since the beginning of the ISAF mission, the ANSF planned - completely by themselves - the ‘operative campaign’, based on which they will work to ensure and implement the security of their Country. This goal, which underline the evolution of the local security forces’ operational and joint capabilities and coordination, was achieved also thanks to the support oh the Italian Military Advisor Teams and marks a significant step towards the total autonomy of the ANSF in the Western Region of Afghanistan -
