Genesis Rare Diamonds Presents This Week in Colored Diamonds
PR Newswire out of New York announces the unveiling of ‘The Golden Dragon’ on the 3rd of May. This Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond is rhomboid shaped and weighs in at a staggering 90 plus carats. Completed and certified in 2012, the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese lunar calendar, this stone’s cut renders a shape that resembles the head of a dragon.
In Chinese culture, the dragon has long been a symbol of power and strength. The Golden Dragon’s vibrant yellow color is near golden. The Chinese link the color yellow to royalty, and a symbol of abundance.
The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) has attached its certification to the diamond, stating that it is the largest rhomboid diamond that they have ever certified. This stone is a cut above any Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond ever seen.
The price? We don’t know as this is only available upon request. Viewings must be scheduled.
We at Genesis Rare Diamonds, along with other elite jewelers, are seeing unprecedented global demand for Fancy Color Diamonds. The modern investor wants to preserve capital, and in a sector with shrinking supply and rising demand, Fancy Color Diamonds are the perfect way to diversify a portfolio.
The same PR Newswire issued a statement about the unveiling of a Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond. This diamond, an impressive 3.5 carats, is one of the three largest such stones on the market. The stone’s long oval shape has been set into a custom designed ring alongside two of Argyle’s Fancy Intense Pink Diamonds.
The GIA has certified this knockout stone which was shown to the world on May 3. Again, the price and appointments to view are available upon request.
Last month, in London, a Fancy Deep Blue Diamond broke the world auction record, selling at $1.8 million per carat. The 5.3 carat Fancy Deep Blue Diamond designed by Bulgari, sold for a whopping $9.5 million. This color saturation, Fancy Vivid, is the most valuable one designated by the GIA.
The Gemological Institute of America notes that of all the diamonds that are mined annually, only a tiny .0001% can qualify as Fancy Color Diamonds. Out of this number, a select few are designated the Vivid or top grade. And even less of these are bigger than a carat.
The past decade has seen the value of Fancy Color Diamonds increase ten-fold.
The value is unquestionable.
