Dr Zoran Radovanovic - SERBIA IS ON THE RIGHT WAY
Interview with Dr. Zoran Radovanovic, Member of the Serbian National Assembly, director of the Clinical Center in Nis and president of the Parliamentary group of friendship between Serbia and the United States in the Serbian National Assembly.
Mr. Radovanovic, at what level is the cooperation between Serbia and the United States at this time?
Cooperation between Serbia and the United States at this time is the best in the course of the last 13 years, which clearly proves, among other things, the visit of Prime Minister Ivica Dacic to the U.S., whose primary goal is encouragement to America's leading IT companies to invest in Serbia.
How do you rate the visit of Prime Minister Dacic to the United States?
Based on the information that I have, this visit of Prime Minister Ivica Dacic was organized with the full coordination of the U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby and the U.S. administration and is the proof that the cooperation of the two countries which have diplomatic relations over 130 years is going upwards. As with all things in life, this cooperation has had ups and downs, differences in opinion or in certain positions, but like in that case, the concrete and direct dialogue, with respect for the principles and attitudes of state of both countries, is leading to increasing cooperation at the highest possible level .
In which areas are investments from U.S. to Serbia expected?
Fields of possible investments are varied and are diverse in range - IT technologies, through cooperation in the field of medicine, science, technology development, etc. Country with such a history, and the name of Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla is sufficient historical initial indication that Serbian scientists with the help of U.S. investment can make a tremendous contribution to the development of both countries, and humanity as a whole.
IT sector as a chance for Serbia's fast development? It is known that companies from the U.S. are leaders in the global IT sector..
Huge numbers of students in the field of IT technology after graduation are working in U.S., Canada, or other technologically advanced countries. So - we have a qualitative scientific potential, demonstrated by the numerous awards won by our high school students or students in international competitions, the U.S. has the necessary capital to take advance of scientifically-innovative ideas, and the can be jointly implemented. In the context of this story, both countries have an interest to continue the existing cooperation and build it up to a national level, which will probably be one of the topics of talks for Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic with the representatives of leading IT technology companies from the U.S..
What will be your activities on the development of cooperation between Serbia and the United States?
Group of friendship between Serbia and the U.S., which I chair, has primarily an obligation to raise the parliamentary cooperation (of the Parliament of Serbia US Congress) and to provide a better and more intensive cooperation between the two countries, which will eventually also result in strengthening the Serbian caucus in Congress, lobbying for increased investments in Serbia (military and IT industry, as for example), exchange of intellectual resources (through the exchange of students and / or education of our specialists in various fields, e.g. medicine, IT sector, etc.), and also a common fight against organized crime, drug trafficking and trafficking and to fight corruption at all levels.
