'[My husband] watched it hit and thought we were gone'

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Rebecca Vitsmun, a stay-at-home mom, lived on SW 14th Street in Moore. She was in the bathtub with her 19-month-old watching the local news online when she heard the tornado was in Newscastle and headed toward them. She made the decision to leave, and their house was destroyed, as you can see in these pictures that her friend shot. 'My husband was on the interstate trying to get home and thought we were in the house. He watched it hit and thought we were gone.'

She's from Louisiana, where you're taught to run from the big storms. 'The people here in Oklahoma aren't taught to do that, but it saved our lives.'

CNN's Wolf Blitzer interviewed Vitsmun in Moore on May 21.

I was watching 4warn online while in the bathtub with my 19 month old when I heard it was in the ground in Newcastle and heading right for us. My husband is from Oklahoma and always says you should stay, but I'm not from here and I panicked 10 minutes before it hit, I got in the car and drove away. This is what happened to our house.
