HIV/AIDS affects older population in DC
My name is Thomas Warren. I am a senior Broadcast Journalism major from Howard University.
In November of 2007 the HIV and AIDS Administration in Washington, DC released a report of a ten-year study detailing the affects of HIV and AIDS throughout the city. The numbers showed that the diseases overwhelmingly affected the Black community more than any other race. But what is most shocking is the fact that older people in DC are becoming the most affected group, which may very well be a microcosm of what is happening around the country. This report tells how a once unknown health scare has become a full-fledged epidemic, and the need for awareness is greater than ever.
