Hit the streets #OccupyWallstreet
NOTE: I am updating this story almost three years to the day after first publishing it on September 29, 2008, as I proudly watch #OccupyWallstreet unfold. I can't help but wonder if the final comment on this article still rings true....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this digital age, we fight our battles with "strongly worded emails".
I ask America: How's that working for you...?
The media, does not cover "mass emails or online petitions".
We went from being a nation of political, civil rights, and other social movements that were "common people" driven, to the nation of whiners we are today.
Our nation is divided, not just in two, but everyone seems to be going their own way.
Unity, is the only answer.
Standing together to be for or against the issues, being in the streets and not hiding behind our computers, making a presence...
From college students to the maturing Americans, there are so many issues - everyone has an issue to fight for or against. The point is to fight for it.
Change doesn't come easy, but damn if history hasn't shown that it does come.
Hit the streets America.
