    Floods sweep through Prague

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     IvanaKottas' friend Katerina Netikova captured these images of Czech volunteers helping out in the suburbs of Holesovice (photos one through four) and Radotin on the river Berounka (photos six through eight). In Holesovice the heavy work brought out scores of people -- students, locals, scouts and other volunteers -- to help fill sandbags. "The firefighters just told them what to do and then the volunteers organized everything among themselves," she said. "I was helping to coordinate the process and making sure we take care of the volunteers -- provide them with food, drinks." She says lessons have been learned from heavy Europe-wide flooding in 2002, which killed dozens and caused millions of dollars worth of damage, including in Holesovice. "They knew exactly what is needed, where should people go and what should they do," she said. "They were securing the town, putting barriers where needed."

Swaths of Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria were menaced by rising rivers Tuesday, as flood waters inundated historic cities and forced mass evacuations.

Prague resident Katerina Netikova has spent the past two days helping volunteer efforts to stave off the worst of the flooding, coordinated by authorities and local people using social media. This is how she captured the floods.
