King of Morocco rejected to meet with PM Erdogan

Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will certainly not keep fond memories of his first trip to Morocco, a move criticised by some while his country is still aflame with fierce nationwide unrest with two dead and thousands injured. He was not received by King Mohammed VI and had to cut his short after meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Abdelilah Benkirane, who like Erdogan hails from an Islamist political party called the Justice and Development Party.

‘Yabiladi’ report attributed the cold reception to PM Erdogan sidelining Morocco during his ‘Arab Spring’ tour in September 2011.
