Something to know about Curitiba, Brazil?

During my travels around the world I met people who, upon learning that I am Brazilian, wanted to talk about sun, sea, carnival, soccer and the Amazon jungle.
Yes, Brazil has these things, but not just that.
I live in Curitiba, few blocks from one of the stadiums that will host matches of the soccer tournament in 2014. Come ready to find a population composed largely of descendants of Polish, Italian and German. Forget the idea of smiling brazilian. People of Curitiba is known as to be "a little bit” closed…
It is known that for many decades shows had pre premieres in Curitiba before they had their premieres in Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro. Why???
If it had enjoyed a bit to Curitiba, and could get some applause, would be a resounding success in the rest of the country.
But fear not, globalization has changed the world and also changed the people of Curitiba.
The smile still comes out with some difficulty, but when it comes is very true.

(The attached photos shows some of the many parks of Curitiba).
