Our preschool had a simple graduation ceremony. The kids processed in adorned with their paper graduation hats, waving to the crowd while Pomp & Circumstance played from the stereo. Then they lined up in their chairs (marked ahead of time so parents would know where they'd be sitting!). The teacher told some great stories about the year and the students' progress, highlighting their three main themes: "I'll try," I'll do my best," and "I'm washable." Then each student was able to come forward while she told the audience what they want to do when they grow up and what their favorite thing was in preschool. Then the students sang an adorable good-bye song. It was precious, yet simple - a great send-off to kindergarten without too much hoopla! After the ceremony, there was a small reception with lemonade and rice krispie bars. Our little guy was so proud, and so were we. We are really fortunate to have found a remarkable school and are happy he doesn't have to leave just because he's going to kindergarten!
