    World's Largest LEGO Star Wars X-wing Starfighter upclose

     

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     ChrisMorrow told me, 'I was one of those kids that would dream of making something life size with LEGOS. Being a big fan of "Star Wars" and having made the X-Wing kit, seeing it in person was spectacular! They turn dreams into reality.'

    This amazing LEGO Star Wars X-wing Starfighter is the world's largest LEGO model built.

     

    Check out my photos and video with master model builder, Gary McIntyre. The Starfighter will reside in LEGOLAND California Resort where it will be an attraction for the remainder of the year.

     

    Fun facts about the X-wing Starfighter
    * Contains 5,335,200 LEGO bricks
    * Weighs 45,979.61 pounds (including bricks and steel infrastructure)
    * Heights: 11 feet
    * Length: 43 feet
    * Wingspan: 44 feet
    * 32 builders spent 17,336 hours to construct
    * Built in the LEGO Model Shop in Kladno, Czech Republic
    * Is a one-to-one replica of LEGO Star Wars set #9493; The model is 42x the size of the retail construction set
