    Dramatic Images Show Tornado Formation

This series of photographs show the formation of a tornado over the Denver International Airport on June 18th. The menacing clouds overheard formed quickly, darkened and began to swirl. As the airport sirens blared, people where shuttled to shelter areas. This series was quickly taken over a period of minutes before heading to safety.

A swirling tail from the developing tornado spiraled downward and a “bubble-like” mass began to form. Within minutes the mass began to descend and slightly yellowish rays descended to the ground. The series of photographs illustrates the danger and beauty of tornados, and how quickly they can appear. The last image shows the scene in traditional black and white to detail the dramatic and subtle graduations of the storm clouds.
