    What was your best internship?

    Summer Internship

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     As a summer 2012 intern with DBD Social, Hilda Adeniji planned multiple private and corporate events, even two summer parties exclusively for NYC interns. Now a full-time marketing coordinator at Pace University, she said her internship 'was a major thing I was asked about' when applying to jobs. She's taken the experience learned from her internship and applied it to her job now coordinating campus events for Pace students.

As a campus ambassador from day one, I have always been very aware of all the great opportunities available with Intern Sushi. However, it wasn't until I began my last summer internship that I got to enjoy the benefits for myself.

I was scouted by a company called DBD Social for a summer Coordinator Internship. Upon researching the company, I found out that it was an event/party planning company in NYC. And although they were a start-up, I was very excited to have been considered for this opportunity because it was working exactly in the field and function that I wanted after graduation and I had never had that chance in past internships.

My summer internship with DBD Social was great and very fun. We handled events from summer rooftop launches to fashion showcases and so on. I worked directly with the founders and gained tremendous hands-on experience in the event industry. I learned a lot about New York City venues as well as client relations. Towards the fall, DBD Social merged with a new company, Host Committee. I was still able to work with the company for the fall and felt grateful to be able to be around for such a major growth.

The best thing I believe I gained from this internship, that I never have been able to from my past ones, was great mentors in the two founders, Carli Roth and Yvonne Najor.

Intern Sushi played a major role in this because without such a unique site, I wouldn't have known where to start to find an opportunity like this nor would have been scouted on any other internship boards.
