Paw-Bunga: Surfing Dogs hit Imperial Beach

The passion with which these surfers catch a wave really makes you pause and shout: “Hey that’s a dog!” The 8th Annual Loews Coronado Bay Surf Dog Competition was held this weekend at the Imperial Beach, California, Pier. These furry beach bums did everything that human surfer do from hanging ten to wiping out with style. Like their human counter-parts, the celebrity surf dogs took part in this year’s event, to name a few: television star, Tillman, the bulldog; Ricochet, the surfing service dog; and Abbie Girl who holds the record for the longest wave surfed by a dog in open water. This year Unleashed by Petco joined the Lowes Coronado Bay Hotel to raise funds for the ASPCA® More and more people are vacationing with the family pet and the Lowes Hotel Chain has a pet travel program – called “Loews Loves Pets” - that offers specialized services for your dog or cat. In the event, you'd like to have your dog learn to surf, Lowes Coronado Bay offers Su’ruff Camp where your dog can get learn to surf with Coronado Surfing Academy at Coronado’s Dog Beach. Maybe next year your pup can be sitting on top of the world by catching some waves!!
