Why We Can't Wait for Snowden, Obama or Congress

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     DesireG told me, 'I wanted to believe Snowden and Greenwald but I had to read up on what they were uncovering. Now I feel resolved that the fight for our 4th Amendment rights are an absolute must. The ball is in the lap of We the People. Are we going to ignore this? I hope not.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

Our government thinks we’re a bunch of stupid saps that can’t discern between truth and lies.

Profiteering fear mongers have hijacked our government (hello), making billions off of our ignorance. You may or may not like Snowden. You may or may not like Obama but what is happening to our civil liberties is much bigger than those two guys. We have a Surveillance Industry running wild wasting our tax dollars every second.

Did you know there was a NSA program called Trailblazer. It was cancelled in 2005 only after the project burned through $5 billion without producing any actionable intelligence whatsoever.

But they want you to believe we should dump our tax dollars into more innocent bloodshed overseas and into surveillance projects that do more to restrict our free speech than protect us from terrorist.

Do you realize that you’re 17,600 times more likely to die from heart disease than from a terrorist attack? You’re 1,048 times more likely to die from a car accident, 404 times more likely to die in a fall and 8 times more likely to be killed by a police officer.

In short your chances of dying due to a terrorist plot is 1 in 20 million.

The $56 Billion Surveillance Industry is laughing at us. They’re not protecting us. They’re laughing at us. They are exploiting our fear and we’re letting them. We cannot wait America. We must shut this mess down now. (lickedy split)

The 4th Amendment has practically become nothing but ink on paper.
