San Giovanni Magical Fireworks attract 300,000

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Blackcat75 says the fireworks provided a "magical evening" with the company of close friends and the full moon behind the Santa Maria Monte dei Cappuccini church. In the midst of cheers and oohs and aahs, she "felt like a child again, in awe of such beauty."

The 24th of June is always a very special event for the people of Turin in Italy as it is "La festa di San Giovanni" the patron saint of Turin (Saint John the Baptist).
300,000 people turned up yesterday evening to see the amazing fireworks display along the River Po.
Piazza Vittorio was full to bursting point with families, teenagers and romantic couples all eager to experience this year round tradition.
The celebrations started off with lazy aperitivo time, music in the square, dinner in the cool night air and at around 10.50pm the fireworks display started..."ooohs" and "aaahs" and "wow mammas" could be heard echoing through the crowds for a magical 37 minutes.
Bursts of applause rang through the city when the display came to a spectacular finish with three loud bangs.
