This iReport is part of an assignment:
I love my Corvette
16 and hooked.
16 years old and hooked. I was 16 and my Dad said, “Mom wants a loaf of Italian bread with dinner. Go to the store.” He then tossed me the keys to his 1975 Corvette. Of course, it took me over an hour to get the loaf of bread. I had to drive down to the lake to see my friends. Then it took me at least 15 minutes to find the perfect parking spot. When I got home, I handed the keys back with the biggest smile on my face and told my Dad that someday I will own my own corvette.
I got married in my early 20’s to a wonderful man…….my Johnny. After being a stay at home mom for 15 years I went back to work in 2002. I got my first paycheck and my husband said it is my money, my checks to spend how I wish. I told him I wanted to shop for a corvette. He was not surprised. I purchased my 2001 Pewter Convertible Corvette that year. Plate: “IPAY 4IT” I drove it home the first night and waiting at my house to see it was my parents. I asked Dad if he wanted to go for a drive and he started to go for the passenger seat. I said “Dad”….and tossed him the keys & let him drive. He looked at me & smiled then said, “I knew you would get your corvette.” One of those moments, you do not forget from a child to an adult.
My 2001 C5 corvette was kept stock. Adding a few chrome accents from time to time. My other big splurge was chrome rims after winning at the casino one weekend. The car I thought I would have forever was sold in 2007. This made room in the garage for the new 2008 Corvette Convertible.
Paddle shift 6 automatic
NOW IS THIS THE CAR I WILL HAVE FOREVER. ?
