CNN PRODUCER NOTE iReporter RonaldDJ was traveling on a highway near the Philippines town of Tupi in South Cotabato province when he spotted this glorious array of exotic fruit for sale by the side of the road. "There all kinds of fruit -- pineapple, banana, papaya, oranges [and more]," he said. "Durian smells horrible, but the taste is good!" For many residents, the stalls are not just a source of business but also their homes. This image was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for September 10, 2013.

The rustic town of Tupi is located in South Cotabato province and is often named as the "fruits, flowers and vegetables basket of the South"; here you can taste the sweetest and juiciest fruits in different sizes and colours available in Mindanao. An abundance of fruit stands are strategically located along the National Highway, these stalls are a characteristic of the rural environment, providing residents the means to sell fresh fruit produced from their hometown at a very low price. Even though the stalls and merchandise are numerous on both sides of the road, the peddlers are briskly waving their hands to motorists and other travellers, holding and flapping around the merchandise they are so eager to sell to their next customer. For many vendors the fruit stall is not only a place where they can sell their goods but a home as well.
