I was born in Berlin / Germany in the early '50s, but moved to Telemark / Norway at the age of 14. In 1956 I got my first camera as a gift from an uncle, right before I was going on my very first holiday to Rjukan / Norway. I have been very interested in photography ever since. Besides of that, I got some knowledge about astronomy, aeronautics / space and meteorology by studying on a private basis. Health problems early in life, made sure I never got my dream of becoming either a fighter pilot or a scientist fulfilled. Instead, I started working with IT / computers and as a freelance photographer.
Our family home is situated in Atraa - a small village near the city of Rjukan - but in a beautiful natural area, not far from the Hardangervidda National Park, Lake Tinnsjö and Mt. Gaustatoppen. Here I get a lot of inspiration for my landscape photography. In addition, we have a cabin in Öyfjell, a very small village in Rauland / Vinje, where I pick up a lot of encouragement and new ideas for my work as a photographer.
In fall 2014 my wife and I have been married for almost 40 years and we have 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren which we are very proud of.
