When you heard JFK was killed

November 22 marks 50 years since the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

JFK’s death was the first major news event that TV networks broke coverage to report. Such became the question of a generation: "Where were you when JFK was assassinated?"

Half a century later, we’re taking the time to look back on that day, what the world looked like and how it changed after Kennedy’s death. How did JFK’s assassination change your life? Was this a turning point for you? Whether it inspired you to join the Peace Corps, determined your career or shaped your world view, we invite you to tell us about it.

Share a photo of yourself in 1963 (or that decade), along with your personal account, and it could be featured in CNN’s coverage.

Update: This assignment is closed. Thank you for your submissions! We featured them in this story on CNN.com: JFK assassination a collective memory for American children
