People with autism often have trouble communicating. They can have difficulty developing language skills, or may struggle with nonverbal communication through eye contact and facial expressions.
Do you or someone you love have autism? How do you connect? Journalist Ron Suskind recently published an emotional essay in the New York Times Magazine about reaching his son using dialogue from scenes in Disney movies, after his son developed regressive autism at age 3.
What about you? Do you use pictures, technology, or alternative methods to communicate? Tell us where you or your loved one falls on the autism spectrum and explain the communication struggles you’ve had. What has worked? Share your approach, along with photos or a short video.
