President Obama unveiled his plan for immigration in a prime-time address. He announced that he would use executive power to patch up the system as best he could, temporarily shielding up to 5 million people from the threat of deportation.
The president plans to offer temporary relief from deportation to the parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents who have been in the country for more than 5 years. He said he will also extend a program that already allows undocumented migrants brought here as children, otherwise known as Dreamers, to stay in the country.
Will you be affected by the new immigration plan? What does it mean for you and your family? How do you feel about your future in America? Share your thoughts in a brief video or a short essay.
