What book changed your life?

When you’re a teenager, life is constantly in flux. You’re experiencing change, and so is everyone around you. But sometimes, it’s a disruptive change that leads to a more serious issue.

Bullying, family relationships, peer relationships, depression, anxiety, mental health issues, thoughts of suicide, disability, body image issues of anorexia and bulimia, gender identity, rape, drugs, alcohol, grief, abuse and racial or class discrimination are all issues that can have a particularly heavy impact in adolescence.

Many young adult books tackle these issues, sometimes in a way that helps readers to find a path through their own struggles. Books like Laurie Halse Anderson’s “Speak” and Stephen Chbosky’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” fall under this category.

What book helped you? Did it change your life in some way, help you understand something or comfort you in a situation? Was there a particular quote from the book that provided you with clarity or inspiration? Perhaps it helped you through a dark time.

Share your story about which book (or books) helped you, along with a photo of yourself. If you still have the book, feel free to share a picture of the cover, or take one of yourself holding it. You could be featured in an upcoming story on CNN.com
