Author and historian Louis "Studs" Terkel has died. Terkel authored several books, including "Working" and the Pulitizer prize-winning "The Good War," focusing on the history of the United States people and relying mostly on oral history. He was also an actor, radio host, and political activist.
Whether or not you agree with Terkel's political views, his work was critical in paving the way for projects like iReport. He made the thoughts and stories of the American people just as important to the historical record as those of world leaders. His idea that the stories of the people matter is at the heart of citizen journalism.
