First, there was the cell phone, then the iPhone, and now just about everyone is in the portable phone business. But what about pay phones? Is there one near you? Does it still get used?

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find a pay phone closest to where you live and make a photo essay about it.

1. Get at least three photos of the pay phone: A wide shot, a close-up, and you with the phone.
2. Check to see if it works. Use the phone, tell us who you called, and how it worked out.
3. Try to find out if it’s used, and how often. Ask someone nearby who may know, or someone who is actually using the phone (but don’t interrupt a phone conversation, that’s just rude).
